Villagers seek support for green scheme

VILLAGERS in Kirknewton, West Lothian, are appealing for support in their bid to secure £100,000 energyshare funding for green projects.

They have drawn up a development plan which includes a potential hydro project at Harperigg Reservoir, a renewable energy heated social space, an anaerobic digester plant and investment in wind farm technology.

Tony Foster, Kirknewton Community Trust development officer, said: "As a village we are not only taking our environmental responsibility seriously but we are looking at ways that can benefit the interests of the whole village. All the renewable projects require funding and we need help beyond our small village population to get to the next round of energyshare."
