Viewers weigh in with complaints

CONTROVERSIAL TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson could be in trouble with BBC bosses after an on-air joke at the expense of Scottish Euromillions winners Colin and Chris Weir.

The Top Gear host said the couple would need to lose weight if they planned to spend some of their winnings on a Formula-1-style car.

His comments were met with gasps from the audience and came after the pair of Largs, Ayrshire, won the 161 million jackpot.

The 51-year-old was putting the exclusive Lotus T125 through its paces on the show that aired on BBC2 on Sunday night.

Viewers watched as Clarkson struggled to squeeze into the 650,000 car, with its only seat having to be removed to allow the presenter to wedge himself in.

Back in the studio, co-host Richard Hammond asked him if the car was worth its premium price tag.

Clarkson then said: "If you are one of those Scottish people that won the Euro lottery millions then you know it's probably worth it.

"I mean they'd have to lose a few pounds."

A spokeswoman for the BBC said: "We have received two complaints and we will responding to them in the usual way."

A spokesman for Camelot declined to comment.
