Victim says she was raped after answering ad

A LATVIAN woman yesterday told a court how she came to Scotland after being promised a job as a nanny and was then raped in a lay-by feet from a main road by the man who picked her up from the airport.

Indulis Lukstins is standing trial accused of a sex attack on the 21-year-old on 15 January this year.

The woman told the High Court in Dundee how she had lived in England for around two years, before returning to her native Latvia after falling pregnant.

But after suffering a miscarriage she began to again look for work in the UK, planning to take a job while continuing to study psychology.

She told how she spotted an advert for a nanny to a Russian family based in Glasgow on a Latvian jobs website.

The woman said she then purchased a ticket to fly to Scotland and arrived at Prestwick Airport on 15 January. She then described the alleged sex attack.

Lukstins, 50, denies raping the woman.

The trial continues.
