A MAN is fighting for his life in hospital after a stabbing near a Subway station.

Police are treating the attack on the 21-year-old in Glasgow yesterday as attempted murder.

Officers were called to a block of flats in Harley Street on the south side of the city at 12:20am, where they found the injured man in a close.

He is being treated for stab wounds at the Southern General Hospital, where staff described his condition as "critical".

Police are keen to talk to the occupants of a small hatchback car seen in the street.

Detective Inspector Scott McMillan said: "At this early stage, I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this crime, or has information that may assist the police investigation to come forward as a matter of urgency."

Police tape cordoned off part of the pavement outside the flats and Cessnock subway station yesterday morning while officers manned the scene as a forensic team examined the area.
