'Very quick' cow gives police the slip

FOUR police officers – with marksmen on standby – gave chase when a cow escaped from a lorry taking it to the abbattoir.

The animal ran through gardens in Inverurie, Aberdeenshire, leading police on a one-mile pursuit before it was trapped in a field. Malcolm Hetherington of Mathers of Inverurie abattoir,

said: "The beast was very, very quick and, because of the snow, everyone else was very slow."
