Vandal defaces mountain peak

Police have condemned a vandal who defaced the summit of one of the peaks of Bennachie, one of the most prominent landmarks in the North-east of Scotland.

Grampian Police appealed for information from the public after a message was daubed with green paint on a large rock at the summit of Craig Shannoch. The message reads “Brian and dog Patch, May 2012.”

Police Constable John Fairclough, who is investigating the incident, said: “It’s disgusting that a person has taken a tin of paint to the summit and vandalised such a treasured landscape which everyone in Aberdeen City and shire enjoy.”
