Valued at £226, but only offered £90

STEPHEN Turner, owner of Macintyres jewellers on Frederick Street, and his staff carried out their own investigation after seeing countless TV ads for cash for gold.

They sent a piece of gold jewellery valued at 226 to one postal firm but received a cheque for just 90.

Mr Turner said: "When we said we weren't happy with the amount and asked for the jewellery back, we got sent another 88, making it 178 altogether.

"When we said we didn't want to go ahead and just wanted the item back, they put up all kinds of barriers to stop us."
