Usher Hall set for gala show

THE Usher Hall is to celebrate its magnificent refurbishment with a spectacular multi-media gala concert.

Mars, Venus and Mercury as captured by NASA's own cameras will be projected on to a 24ft screen on Sunday, October 10, accompanied by Gustav Holst's Planets suite played by the Houston Symphony from Texas.

Since reopening last August, more than 220,000 people have seen shows by such stars as Billy Connolly, Tim Minchin and Katherine Jenkins, and events including the Edinburgh International Festival.

Councillor Deidre Brock, culture and leisure convener, said: "The future is very bright for the Usher Hall."
