US case against architecture firm settled

A LAW suit brought against embattled architecture firm RMJM in the United States has been settled for an undisclosed sum, the company has revealed.

Bob Hillier, founder of Prince-ton-based Hillier Architecture, led a civil case against the firm over claims it failed to pay thousands of pounds of staff bonuses agreed as part of a takeover by RMJM three years ago.

RMJM, of Edinburgh, which has admitted it suffered from "cash-flow issues" over the past year, said it had come to an agreement with the complainants but that allegations RMJM was guilty of asset-stripping and "siphoning off corporate funds" worth up to 8 million had been dropped.

A spokesman said: "The legal case in the US was settled earlier this month for a reduced sum, which is covered by a confidentiality agreement. Importantly, allegations regarding asset stripping, etc, were withdrawn."

l We have been asked to point out that Viraj Chatterjee is not among the staff to have resigned from RMJM in Hong Kong and he remains with the company. We apologise for the error and are happy to set the record straight.
