University sets course for postgrad festival

Edinburgh University Student's Association is hosting its first postgraduate festival next week.

From February 14 to 18, there will be a number of events to showcase postgraduate work across the university and to provide opportunities for postgrads to develop their skills and careers.

The festival includes a conference, with presentations from students from all areas of the university discussing their work; workshops and skills development sessions run by the careers service; and social events including a ceilidh.

Eric Chen, EUSA postgraduate convener, said: "Postgrads are an essential part of Edinburgh University. They provide a lot of the teaching, and do so much to make Edinburgh University the intellectual community it is but they are often left working away on their own projects or in small groups and courses and so their contribution and importance isn't always recognised.

"This festival is an opportunity for postgrads to share their experience, see what's there to help them in the university, as well as to have some fun. We hope they find it interesting, useful and entertaining."
