University court chooses new chairman

QUEEN Margaret University has appointed a new chair of court following the retirement of Professor Ian Percy.

Keir Bloomer, a former chief executive of Clackmannanshire Council, has been elected as the new chair, while Judith Sischy, Professor Robert Cormack and Jim Bradshaw have also been appointed as new members.

Mr Bloomer, who is now retired, he has been a member of the Court of Queen Margaret University since 2007, becoming vice-chair in 2008.

He said: "My predecessor has steered court through the major achievements of recent years with integrity and wisdom achieving, among other things, full university title and delivering a world-class green campus.

"We now have new challenges to face but we have a clear vision of our future as an institution that is relevant and collaborative."
