Union in pay freeze talks

THE Edinburgh branch of the trade union Unison has asked members to take part in a consultation on the proposal to freeze the pay of all city council workers.

Under the national negotiations, council workers will get a 0.65 per cent pay rise this year followed by a pay freeze for two years. Unions had earlier voted to reject an offer of a one per cent pay rise this year, a freeze next year and a 0.5 per cent rise in 2012-13.

Unison's Edinburgh branch has asked for feedback as they prepare to lodge a new claim for 2011-12.
