Union Canal pair face car crane bill

TWO men could be facing a £12,000 bill to retrieve a car from a frozen canal.

The pair, aged 24 and 22, may be fined the cost of a crane pulling the crashed vehicle from 5ft of water after thick ice on the Union Canal gave way. The pair escaped unharmed after the Peugeot sank on Monday.

Both men will appear at Livingston Sheriff Court next month.
