Uni firms pass test

A SOFTWARE firm and a company that has developed a chemical test for genetic mutations are among those which have been created out of Edinburgh University.

The university formed 35 new firms in the 2010-11 academic year, following the record 40 companies created in 2009-10.

The firms include Speech Graphics, which develops speech-synchronisation software for video games, and DestiNA Genomics, which has developed a chemical test that quickly detects genetic mutations.
