Undefeated city boxer set to be honoured

AN UNDEFEATED Edinburgh boxer is set to be honoured in the City Chambers.

Since he turned professional, Craig McEwan has won 19 fights and has yet to lose.

Councillor Jason Rust, convener of the Pentlands Neighbourhood Partnership, which recently awarded a 4000 grant to Clovenstone Boxing Club, the club where McEwan trained, said: "Craig's successes in the ring at an international level are tremendous and have had an inspiring effect on a great number of young people in the area.

"Hopefully we will see yet more champions coming from Clovenstone in the future."

Cllr Rust has lodged a motion for the next full council meeting, on August 19, that congratulates the boxer's record and welcomes the impact that his record has had on young people, especially in the Wester Hailes area.

It also calls for a "suitable reception" to be held in the boxer's honour.
