'Ultimate hero' JK created in Lego

CHILDREN helped create a Lego image of Harry Potter author JK Rowling after she was voted their ultimate hero.

Visitors to Legoland Windsor joined in the bank holiday project to build a giant mosaic of the novelist out of around 48,000 Lego bricks. The theme park polled more than 700 youngsters under the age of 14 to find out who they thought of as their "ultimate hero" from the last decade.

Rowling topped the list with more than a third of the vote, followed by High School Musical star Zac Efron, and US president Barack Obama was voted third.

Gordon Brown failed to secure a single vote in the poll.

Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole and football superstar David Beckham made it into fourth and fifth place.

Vicky Brown, general manager of Legoland Windsor, said: "We are thrilled that JK Rowling topped this poll as her books have been a great inspiration to children of all ages."
