York police probe ‘offensive’ George Square post

POLICE in York are investigating after a woman made an insensitive post on social media relating to the Glasgow bin lorry tragedy.

The woman, who lives in York according to her Facebook page, made a comment earlier this week relating to the incident.

Six people were killed in Glasgow’s George Square on Monday when a bin lorry crashed into a group of pedestrians after reportedly losing control.

A number of people have called for the woman to face action as a result of the post.

Police in North Yorkshire said today on Twitter that they were aware of an ‘offensive comment’ on social media and confirmed that the force was helping Police Scotland with their enquiries.
