World's oldest coach retires

A FOOTBALL coach believed to be the world's oldest has announced his retirement at the age of 93.

Ivor Powell trained footballers at the University of Bath for 37 years, after a distinguished playing career which saw him appear for Wales, Blackpool, Queen's Park Rangers and Aston Villa.

A friend of Sir Stanley Matthews, and a Welsh international, Mr Powell took up his post with Bath in 1973. An estimated 4,000 players have been coached by him.

He said: "I feel so proud of what I've done."
