Word on the Street is that Kiefer loves Corrie

HOLLYWOOD star Kiefer Sutherland has revealed himself as a fan of Coronation Street – and told how he also recognises himself in The Office's David Brent.

Sutherland's career was revived as go-getting federal agent Jack Bauer in the US drama 24, which is bowing out with its final episode after eight seasons.

The actor told the Radio Times how he shed tears – as Jack – as filming of the Emmy award-winning show reached its climax. Asked when he last cried, he said: "It was a scene in the finale… well, Jack cried.

"I made a speech to the crew at the end and although I didn't cry, I did hit a point where I couldn't speak any more – I felt the wind knocked out of me so bad and my lip went and I had to try very hard to keep it together. That was the most emotional moment I've had in a long time."

However, Sutherland, who was born in Britain, said he definitely had the British "stiff upper lip".

Asked about his favourite British TV shows, he said: "When I was a kid there was always Coronation Street and more recently The Office. I love it but find it very difficult to watch – especially when I see myself in David Brent and think: 'I've done that'."
