Woman bites policeman, gets false teeth stuck

A WOMAN bit a policeman so hard, her false teeth became embedded in the officer’s fingers, a court in Gloucester has been told.

Jeanette Hooper was facing arrest after Sergeant Miles Ajinka responded to reports of a woman brandishing a knife around her home, the Metro reports.

As Sgt Ajinka arrived on the scene, he reported seeing an ‘appreciable amount of blood’ around the house, as well as dried blood on Ms Hopper’s hands.

Ms Hopper, 50, attempted to resist efforts to take her into custody, Gloucester Crown Court were told, and ‘sunk her teeth’ into Sgt Ajinka’s hand.

Richard Posner, prosecuting, added that the police officer had ‘slapped the back of [Ms Hopper’s] head’ in a bid to free his hand.

As she moved her head away her false teeth came out, staying embedded in the officer’s hand.

The court was told that Ms Hopper had a ‘hazy’ memory of the incident, and claimed the bite was a reaction to being handcuffed, as she was nursing a fractured wrist at the time.

Ms Hopper has made 11 appearances in court for 23 offences, mainly concerning dishonesty or alcohol-related offences.

Steve Thomas, defending, explained that police normally attended Ms Hopper’s house with an ambulance, but Sgt Ajinka was not aware of this, and as such faced a ‘completely different’ situation.

Ms Hopper, from Ruardean in Gloucestershire, pleaded guilty to common assault, but denied affray. She was sentenced to 12 months supervision.
