Welsh FM backs convention

THE First Minister of Wales has called for a constitutional convention to be set up to keep the United Kingdom together.

Carwyn Jones said he was concerned the UK’s future is being driven by the SNP, adding he wanted a more pro-active approach from those wanting to keep the Union. His remarks follow research showing more English voters think devolution has worsened UK government.

He said: “It isn’t simply a matter of more devolution or less devolution – there should be an open debate about how the UK itself might function more responsively to the needs of its constituent parts.”
