Watchdog clears Starkey interview

A INTERVIEW with historian David Starkey about the English riots, which sparked 700 complaints to the BBC, has been cleared by the TV watchdog.

Mr Starkey told Newsnight a section of white society “had become black”, adding that “a particular sort of violent, destructive, nihilistic gangster culture has become the fashion”. An Ofcom spokesman said: “His comments were countered by the views of other contributors.”
