Watch: Star Wars Episode VII - The Force Awakens trailer

AN extended look at the new Star Wars film - in which several of the franchise’s leading original cast will reprise their roles - has been unveiled.

Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens was met with a overwhelmingly excited response on social networks as the film’s 90-second trailer was released earlier today.

The film, directed by JJ Abrams, is scheduled for release in December 2015. Original cast members Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill are slated to appear alongside franchise newcomers John Boyega (who, incidentally, is the first person to appear in the trailer) and Andy Serkis.
