Watch: Colossal wind turbine blades manoeuvre in convoy through Highland village

Enormous blades which measure over 160 metres were caught on film while travelling through Golspie on their way to Gordonbush Wind Farm.

The convoy shown travelled on Tuesday from Nigg harbour and slowly made its way north along the A9 passing through the village of Golspie in Sutherland before reaching its final destination; the Gordonbush Wind Farm, just north of Brora.

Golspie man Neil Barron took this video footage at the north end of the village main street as the convoy passed.

A trial run without the turbine components on the vehicles was held earlier this month to ensure that the load could safely make the journey.

The wind farm is operated by SSE Renewables who were given the go-ahead this time last year to extend the project by 11 turbines, as reported by The Northern Times.

The farm currently is made up of 35 smaller turbines with the new ones set to measure almost 150 metres high.
