Warning of floods south of Border

The Met Office has issued severe weather warnings for parts of England Wales and Northern Ireland, as heavy rains are predicted to hit some areas today.

People are urged to “be aware” of the possibility of severe weather in several parts of the UK, including: Northern Ireland, Wales, West Midlands, south-west England, London and south-east England.

Areas likely to be hit the hardest by the extreme weather are Cornwall, West Devon, Pem- brokeshire and Northern Ireland, according to the Met Office, which said there could also be some flooding.

Matt Dobson, senior forecaster with Meteogroup, said: “It’s not unusual for this time of year; in the autumn we do get some heavy rain in these areas.”

The heavy rains are expected to move north to Scotland tomorrow, according the Met Office forecasters, though there are no severe weather warnings in place for the UK on Wednesday.
