Veteran of both world wars dies

ONE of Scotland's oldest men, who served in both world wars, has died, a veterans charity said today.

Wilfred Baker, 106, joined the Royal Navy at the age of 18 and retired in 1948.

The great-great-grandfather died yesterday at Newlands House care home in Dunfermline.

He was understood to have been just a day younger than the oldest man in Scotland, Bob Taggart of Rutherglen.
