Worcestershire: Two children were fighting for their lives in hospital today after a car plunged into a river.

Police said a five-year-old girl and a six-year-old boy were both in a critical condition after being airlifted to hospital following the incident in Evesham yesterday.

Officers later arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder.

• Nottinghamshire: A strike planned by workers on a power station site has been called off after a deal was agreed to end a row over redundancies.
