Trial set for £1.5bn City fraud case

A CITY trader accused of gambling away a record £1.5 billion in Britain’s biggest banking fraud has appeared in court.

Kweku Adoboli, 31, from east London, will go on trial later this year accused of losing the money while working for Swiss banking giant UBS. He has denied two counts of fraud and two counts of false accounting.

A trial date has been set for 3 September. Adoboli was remanded in custody.
