Tram driver faces court

A TRAM driver has been quizzed by police over the death of a tourist who was run over at a seaside resort.

Maureen Foxwell, 70, died after she was hit by a tram in Blackpool, Lancashire.

Mrs Foxwell, of Trinant, south Wales, was on holiday with her husband when she was hit by the tram at Norbreck at the northern end of Blackpool Promenade on the morning of 5 August last year. She suffered a fractured skull and chest injuries in the collision and died in hospital on 12 September.

The Crown Prosecution Service said it had enough evidence to charge driver Paul Edensor, 36, with causing death by driving without due care and attention.

He will appear at the magistrates' court on 8 July for an initial hearing.
