Tories pledge to bring in supermarket ombudsman

A CONSERVATIVE government would introduce a supermarket ombudsman to "curb the abuses of power" by major retailers which harm farmers and consumers, under plans announced today.

Speaking at the Oxford Farming Conference today, shadow environment secretary Nick Herbert will call for a "new age of agriculture" supporting UK farmers. He will warn some aspects of the way supermarkets treat their suppliers could harm producers and consumers.
