‘Too old’ woman, 63, sues Labour Party

A WOMAN who claims she was not selected to stand in local government election because she was too old is suing the
Labour Party.

Anna Dyer, 63, is suing the party for £18,000 citing age and sex discrimination. She has lodged a civil claim at Glasgow Sheriff Court. The papers state she has “sustained loss, injury and damage and in particular
injury to feelings”.

Ms Dyer, from Kelvinside, claims she has been a member of the party since 1980 and was approved as a list candidate for the 2011 Scottish Parliament elections, but she was not elected.

The Labour Party is challenging the claims.
