The checkout queuing system his company, Qmatic, first sold in 1988 is used by high street stores such as Marks & Spencer, Sainsbury’s and Boots.
The Post Office was the first organisation to use its linear queue system, and Qmatic now controls queues for a quarter of the world’s population.
