Tabak ‘tried to blame landlord’

Vincent Tabak tried to incriminate landlord Christopher Jefferies in the disappearance of Joanna Yeates, a court heard yesterday.

On the night Mr Jefferies was arrested, Tabak’s girlfriend, Tanja Morson, rang police to say they had some information.

The couple, who were staying with Tabak’s family in the Netherlands, said they had seen reports of Mr Jefferies’ arrest on Dutch TV on 30 December.

Detective Constable Karen Thomas told Bristol Crown Court: “What she said was that they had seen the coverage in the Netherlands and that Christopher Jefferies had been arrested, they were shocked and that Vincent had some information they felt it would be useful to know.”

Tabak told the detective that he had noticed Mr Jefferies’ car had been moved on the night of 17 December.
