Suspect in custody after woman's murder

Worcestershire: A man was in police custody today on suspicion of murdering a woman on a luxury residential estate.

The victim, named locally as Lucy Landry, 38, was found fatally injured at a property on the Besford Court Estate, near Pershore, late on Tuesday.

Leicestershire: The way police responded to a woman who made two 999 calls before she was battered to death is to be investigated.

Joanne Butler, 38, was found dead after a fire in her flat in Earl Shilton in January 2006.

A post-mortem examination revealed she had died from extensive head injuries. A man was later convicted of her murder.
