Sun shines on a safari to see rhinos

THE Duchess of Cornwall shades herself from the South African sun as she and the Prince of Wales embarked on a safari.

The royal couple visited the Phinda Game Reserve, in the KwaZulu Natal province, to see how black rhino are protected from the threat of poachers.

Charles is a champion of conservation and preserving wildlife, and is president of WWF UK.

As they drove through Phinda Game Reserve yesterday, the Duchess, 64, held a white parasol, while the 62-year-old prince looked well-dressed for a safari in a cream suit.

Both wore sunglasses as they sat side by side in the first row of seats behind the driver in a tiered 4x4 vehicle.

Earlier, the royal couple were welcomed to Ulundi, the former capital of Zululand, with a traditional dance by about 70 warriors dressed in animal skins, and holding spears and shields.

Some of the bare-chested dancers, who wore headdresses and feathers, put a modern twist on their ancestral garments, by wearing trainers.
