Speed camera set on fire on A1
The incident happened shortly before midnight on Saturday on the A1 near to Dunglass roundabout at Cockburnspath, Berwickshire.
The damage is estimated to be in the region of £20,000.
The incident brings the number of cameras set alight in the Borders region alone to at least 20 since 2004.
In December, the camera housing was stolen from a device on the A68 near St Boswells, Roxburghshire.
In October vandals used a saw to damage speed cameras on the A68 near Earlston and Oxton.
A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police said that safety cameras are located at places where there is a history of collisions and speeding; and removing the cameras puts all motorists at a greater danger.
