Soldier killed in Helmand is named

A British soldier from 1st Battalion the Mercian Regiment who died in Afghanistan yesterday has been named by the Ministry of Defence as Lance Corporal Jamie Webb.

L/Cpl Webb, 24, who was born in Wythenshawe, Greater Manchester, died from wounds sustained during an insurgent attack on his patrol base in the Nad-e Ali District of Helmand Province on Monday.
