Sir Bradley Wiggins named funniest Brit

OLYMPIC cycling champion Sir Bradley Wiggins has topped a poll to be named Britain’s funniest person.

More than 2,000 people were asked to choose who tickled them most from a short-list of 25 celebrities, excluding professional comedians.

Sir Bradley won top spot for his one-liners, such as the one he made in Paris when crowds thronged the Champs-Élysées to see him become the first British winner of the Tour de France.

London mayor Boris Johnson came second in the poll, carried out to mark the start of TV channel Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival, with jokes such as: “My chances of being PM are about as good as the chances of finding Elvis on Mars, or my being reincarnated as an olive.”

Crystal Palace football manager Ian Holloway was third for sayings such as: “Right now, everything is going wrong for me – if I fell in a barrel of boobs, I’d come out sucking my thumb!”

The top five included Apprentice star Lord Sugar and Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson.
