Singer Boyle made £5m in first year of her fame

SCOTS singer Susan Boyle earned £5 million in the first year after her spectacular rise to fame, official figures have revealed.

The West Lothian star’s two companies made the money thanks to the global success of her debut album I Dreamed A Dream.

Records filed with Companies House show Boyle, who shot to stardom on Britain’s Got Talent, was given full control of her financial affairs for the first time earlier this year.

The 50-year-old spinster from Blackburn, West Lothian, was made a director and the owner of all the shares in her firms which handle income from her music and merchandising.

Susan’s main company, Duil Limited, has £4,638,469 in the bank, while her second firm, Speur Limited, has assets worth £175,405.

Boyle is set get even richer as the official accounts, which were filed at the end of last month, do not take into account sales of her second album The Gift.

The figures cover the period from October 2009 to October 2010 when her first record topped the charts in Britain and America.

The Gift was released in November last year and also hit the No 1 spot on both sides of the Atlantic.
