Shoppers willing to pay for plastic bags

Consumers have an average of 17 plastic bags stored at home while more than half support retailers charging for them.

A poll by the watchdog Which? found 56 per cent of consumers in Scotland and England support a 5p charge for bags, but 45 per cent of shoppers think that they should be entitled to free bags.
