Second MP to give to charity

CHARITIES yesterday thanked another Labour politician who is to donate one of her two salaries to good causes.

Margaret Curran, the new MP for Glasgow East, is also an MSP for Baillieston. She will receive a third of her MSP's salary while she holds both seats.

Like Labour MP and MSP Cathy Jamieson before her, she has decided not to keep it. Half of the money Ms Curran receives as an MSP will go to the charity Mary's Meals, which helps feed schoolchildren in some of the world's poorest countries, with the other half going to Scottish Women's Aid in east Glasgow.
