Scottish independence: Patient makes case for Union
Glaswegian Cathy Murphy, 66, who works for Asda, was at the heart of an emotional plea by Mr Miliband to put the fight against independence at the forefront of Labour’s policies.
She collapsed at the conference in Liverpool in 2011, suffering from an aneurysm, and was treated at the Broadgreen hospital in the city where she had a life-saving operation. She said: “I would ask Alex Salmond how we would pay for the NHS in an independent Scotland.”
She questioned whether she could keep the ongoing help and support she receives in Liverpool if she becomes a foreigner.
