Labour Party Conference draws to a close

On the final day of the annual Labour Conference it’s not surprising that talk of Jeremy Corbyn and his party was trending online today. Risking potential conflict with his fellow party members, the Labour leader openly said that he would never support the use of nuclear weapons when interviewed on BBC Radio 4. Labour have also called upon SNP chief executive Peter Murrell to clarify the credentials of MP Michelle Thomson.

Eamonn Holmes ridiculed after bizarre Jeremy Corbyn interview

Speaking of Jeremy Corbyn, presenter Eamonn Holmes has faced criticism on social media after conducting a “car crash” interview with the Labour leader on Sky News this morning. During the course of the interview Holmes frequently made football analogies, at one point comparing the Labour Conference to the FA Cup final. He also reduced Mr Corbyn to laughter on more than one occasion with his strange lines of questioning. Twitter users watching the proceedings criticised Holmes for being rude, smug and patronising.

Arsene Wenger comes under fire over poor Arsenal result

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger faced harsh criticism today for the club’s poor performance against Olympiakos last night. Arsenal were defeated 3-2 by the Greek team, causing critics and fans to question how long Wenger should remain as manager. Their Champion League hopes are in jeopardy after picking up zero points from two games.

Lord Hanningfield facing charges over alleged false expenses claims

Former Conservative council leader Lord Hanningfield is to be charged over allegations of false expenses claims, which first came to light in July 2013. Hanningfield was the head of Essex county council for nine years, during which time he allegedly claimed a daily allowance without spending significant time in parliament. The accused will appear at Westminster magistrates court October 29.

Some Harry Potter fans will be eating Christmas dinner at Hogwarts

Last night it was announced that a special Christmas dinner event would be hosted at the Warner Bros Harry Potter studios in London during December. Fans of JK Rowling’s series were whipped into a frenzy when they learned that the meal would be served in the Great Hall of wizarding school Hogwarts – the set where the films were shot, to be exact. Tickets inevitably sold out in record time despite costing a steep £230 per person.
