More than 150 dead after earthquake in Afghanistan and Pakistan

A powerful earthquake hit north-eastern Afghanistan and Pakistan this afternoon, causing more than a hundred deaths and serious destruction. The earthquake reportedly had a magnitude of 7.5 on the Richter scale and was accompanied by severe aftershocks. Among the dead were 12 Afghan schoolgirls who were killed in a crush while attempting to escape their school building.

Germaine Greer claims transgender women are not ‘real women’

Feminist Germaine Greer has faced criticism from both the press and social media today after sharing her views on transgender women during a TV interview. Greer defended previous statements on transgender women, claiming those who were born male were not ‘real’ women.
