Sainsbury’s spark petrol price war

Motorists are preparing for a supermarket price war after Sainsbury’s announced yesterday that it would drop the price of fuel.

From today, petrol prices at the company’s 279 forecourts across the UK will dip by 4p a litre, with diesel being reduced by 3p a litre.

Rival stores were expected to take action by dropping their prices in response.
