BRITAIN'S birds are facing an energy crisis as the severe weather blocks food supplies and threatens the worst wildlife wipe-out so far this century, the RSPB has warned.

Birds cannot break through the snow and ice to find the seeds, bugs and other animals they need to survive. RSPB spokesman Grahame Madge called for help from the public as it faces a "potentially disastrous" situation.
