Roadside bomb kills British serviceman

A BRITISH soldier was killed in an explosion in Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defence said.

The soldier was from the 1st Battalion, the Royal Welsh.

He died in the blast on Saturday, while travelling in a vehicle in the Nahr-e Saraj region of Helmand province. His next of kin have been informed.

A total of 415 members of UK forces have died in Afghanistan since October 2001.
