RBS Group chaos to continue for weeks

Some Ulster Bank customers may not see a normal service until mid-July, RBS Group said yesterday.

Ulster Bank customers have had problems with their account balances updating since 19 June, after computer software problems led to chaos for people who bank with NatWest and Royal Bank of Scotland, both parts of RBS Group.

RBS Group said it has faced greated difficulties restoring service to Ulster Bank customers than those of the other two banks, but said the situation was improving significantly in recent days.

In a statement, it said: “We now expect that next week will be the final week of any significant delays for Ulster Bank customers. We expect gradual, but significant and noticeable improvements throughout the remainder of this week and next.”
