Rapist ‘taxi driver’gets eight years

A 25-YEAR-OLD woman was raped after she left a nightclub on Christmas Eve by a man working as an unlicensed cabbie.

Nathan Gifford, 44, was yesterday jailed for eight years for the 2011 rape in Gillingham, Kent, at Maidstone Crown Court.

The woman had been out with a friend but they had become separated and Gifford helped her into a cab he had borrowed from a friend. He had spent the evening picking up hires. After raping the woman, he abandoned her in an alley. He was arrested after being identified using CCTV and plate recognition technology.
