Radio 1 names new station boss

Ben Cooper has been appointed Andy Parfitt’s successor as controller of Radio 1, and declared it “a dream come true”.

The 41-year-old had been acting controller since July. His appointment came just a day after Radio 1 landed a record of 11.8 million weekly listeners.
